I Stand for Change
I Stand for Change.
An adaptation of "I have a Dream" by Martin Luther King
I have
been honored to join you in this endeavor in fighting for our nation against
the tyranny of dictators, crook politicians and wealthy “whisperers”. This current administration is just a
continuation of the never-ending corrupt government system. We all continue to live in a shadow of fears
that curtails our Freedom of Expressions. We all live in a shadow wherein no
one can speak the truth and information is mostly hidden.
Dawn is
breaking and so our hopes. This is now
is the time to stand and fight for what we believe is right, for our country,
for our colleagues, for our poor brothers and sisters and most of all for our
kin.
Consistently,
we elevate concerns to the our government but the response we get is more
killings and more threat of putting men behind bars who are brave enough to
expose our distorted government system and corrupt officials.
Where is
the so-called State Obligation to Protect, to Respect and to Fulfill? Where are these three (3) major obligations
of our government going? Where are we
heading from the devastation of our dignity and freedom?
Instead
of giving attention to honest cry of our whistle blowers they were either
silenced or get raped with lots of subpoena and court cases while those
powerful in command are all smiling like a devil. This shows that we are living in a shameful,
degrading and injustice nation. In spite
of religiously paying cash to keep these powerful people to become wealthier
and famous we get nothing but shame and criticism. We all pay cash, out our dirty hands to feed
these corrupt politicians and let their families shop the branded goods. We do pay cash out of our sweat and blood but
being compensated nothing but injustice and discrimination.
We should
demand for our security, for our freedom, for adequate standard of living and
for true democracy in this nation. We
have been struggling for decades. We
have been keeping our eyes open for almost 24/7 for our dreams and goals. We have been praying and hoping to be able to
see the full realization our goals in the future. But for as long as we keep raising these
powerful politicians and wealthy “whisperers” who can bend the laws, who can
make illogical inserts so as to steal from the nation’s treasure box, who can
promote injustice instead of being righteous and for as long as there are those
who can manipulate our poor brothers and sisters for their own selfish motives
we will continue to go hungry and thirsty.
Yes, until
now, we are still hungry and thirsty for true justice, for better food on top
of our table, for the equal payment of hardships and for the satisfaction of our
human rights listed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which is a
mere covenant of the Philippine State to implement. Have we seen gradual improvement from the
past or getting worse?
Decades
past, there are still many victims of civil and political injustices; increasing
number of poor families who are suffering from inaccessibility of help from our
government; large numbers of employed workers crying for decent wage; millions
of unemployed going hungry daily and experiencing malnutrition; and many more
suffering from different areas due to government’s negligence to change our
corrupt system.
Promises…
promises! But in the end we whose voices are unheard will continue to
suffer. We the silent majority who are
working hard to keep the economy going, will continue to bear the pain, pray
and hope. We from the young generation 2
or 3 decades ago who are now wearing gray hair but continue to fight for
change.
I will
keep standing here to fight for change. I will never stop fighting until my eyes were
closed and my body laid 6-feet below the ground. So then, I urged everyone with me right now, to
help me continue with this fight, to change our corrupt government system. Stand beside me until the time we see the
real change. God is our source of
strength and I believe He will make us win this battle for the glory of our new
generation.
Thank you.
